To ensure your Dulce Aliento candle provides a clean, consistent “Sweet Breath” feel every time you light it, we recommend following these simple care steps.
Step-by-Step Candle Care
-
The Golden Rule (The First Burn): When lighting your candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the wax melts across the entire surface to the edges of the vessel. This prevents “tunneling” and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.
-
Trim the Wick: Before every light, trim your organic cotton wick to 1/4 inch. This prevents the flame from becoming too large, reduces soot, and keeps the vessel looking pristine.
-
Timing is Everything: Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This protects the fragrance oils from overheating and preserves the integrity of the wax blend.
-
The Half-Inch Limit: Discontinue use when only 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the container. Burning beyond this point can cause the vessel to overheat.
Safety First: Children & Pets
Your home should be a sanctuary. To keep it safe for the whole family:
-
High and Out of Reach: Always burn candles on a heat-resistant surface, well out of reach of curious children and pets.
-
Never Leave Unattended: Always extinguish your candle before leaving a room or going to sleep.
-
The “Vagrant” Tail: Be mindful of pets with happy tails or jumping cats; ensure the candle is in a location where it cannot be accidentally knocked over.
-
Draft-Free Zone: Keep candles away from open windows, fans, or air ducts to prevent uneven burning or accidental flare-ups.
Repurposing Your Minimalist Vessel
Once your candle has reached its end, don’t let that beautiful vessel go to waste! Our packaging is designed to be lived with long after the wax is gone.
-
Step 1: Carefully pour out any remaining liquid wax or place the container in the freezer for an hour to pop out the hardened wax remnants.
-
Step 2: Wash the container with warm, soapy water to remove any residue.
-
Step 3: Get Creative! Use your clean vessel to hold:
-
Succulents or small indoor plants.
-
Office supplies like paperclips or thumbtacks.
-
Beauty essentials like cotton swabs or hair ties.
-
Small keepsakes or jewelry.
